HONORS COUNCIL MINUTES:   April 10, 2017

PRESENT:  Kevin Dodson, Kumar Das, Jeff Palis, Nicki Michalski, Michael Saar, Anna Christensen, Clare Burns, Randy Yoder, Gina Hale, Kathy Fraccastoro, Mike Matthis, Andrea Karlin and Xenia Fedorchenko.

Meeting was called to order at 3:37pm by Dr. Kevin Dodson.

DEAN’S REPORT:

GPHC went well.  There were about 440 participants with about 50 of those being our students.  We added a lot of new programming and this by far was the best GPHC.    

BUSINESS:

Minutes from February 6, 2017 and March 6, 2017 were reviewed and upon motion by Kathy Fraccastoro, seconded by Xenia Fedorchenko, the minutes were approved.

Paul Latiolais from the Center for Innovation, Commercialization and Entrepreneurship spoke about the visionary initiative course called the Interdisciplinary Freshman Experience.

Next year we are going to start a digital literacy initiative taught by Tilisa Thibodeaux.
