HONORS COUNCIL MINUTES: October 23, 2017
PRESENT: Kevin Dodson, Rebekah Maxwell, Kumer Das, Jeff Palis, Larry Allen, Nicki Michalski, Michael Saar, Clare Burns, Tilisa Thibodeaux, Randy Yoder, Gina Hale, Kathy Fraccastoro, Andrea Karlin and Zenia Federchenko.
Meeting was called to order at 3:30pm by Dr. Kevin Dodson.
DEAN’S REPORT:
Dr. Dodson reported that the Honors College will be hiring a Graduation Counselor. Mr. Andrew Strange will start this position November 6, 2017.
The Alumni Advisory Board is planning to have the 1st meeting in April.
BUSINESS:
April 10, 2017 minutes were reviewed and upon motion by Kathy Fraccastoro, seconded by Kumer Das, the minutes were approved.
Dr. Dodson proposed changing the GPA requirements for accepting current Lamar students into the college. He would like to change it from a 3.5 to a 3.6. Upon motion by Andrea Karlin, seconded by Xenia Fedorchenko, the proposed policy was approved.
Tilisa Thibodeaux reported that out of 108 students accepted for Fall 2017, 72 students have contacted her regarding the E-Portfolios and 42 have submitted links.
