New Science and Technology Building and Upcoming Campus Parking Changes

Exciting changes are underway as Lamar University continues to grow with the upcoming construction of the new Science and Technology Building on the south end of campus, close to the Speech and Hearing Building. To accommodate the construction schedule for the new building, parking lot F-5 will be closed to all campus parking effective May 6, however, additional parking will be available at alternative locations to offset the loss of lot F-5.

During the month of April, two new temporary parking lots will be constructed east of Rolfe Christopher Drive near the existing temporary lots.  Lot T-6 will be extended to Cochran Street and a new lot will be completed along Alabama Street.  These lots will add approximately 96 parking spaces and will be available for all permit parking on May 5.

Additionally, a permanent lot will be constructed over the summer between Georgia and Iowa streets that will accommodate approximately 176 spaces.

If you currently park in lot F-5, please plan ahead for alternate parking starting May 6.  All unauthorized vehicles parked in the lot after May 5 are subject to citation and towing.

We appreciate your understanding and patience as the campus continues to expand and apologize for any inconvenience this closure may cause.
